Originally built for the 1993 Frankfurt Motor Show, this one-off Ferrari Barchetta was designed and built by the legendary Italian coachbuilder Bacchelli and Villa who still serve today as Ferrari’s official carrozzeria for factory restorations. Styled by Franco Bacchelli, the car’s body is handmade aluminum and has a host of fascinating details such as the contrasting dark front fender fairings, whose dark color recalls the tires of an open-wheel race car. Their shape draws obvious inspiration from the Lancia Stratos, as do the molded recesses inside the car next to the occupants, which are designed to accommodate helmets. Given the car’s abbreviated windscreen, helmets are certainly worth wearing in this car when underway. The car is extremely pared down; in addition to lacking anything beyond a rudimentary windscreen, the Conciso also lacks doors and its simplicity allows a remarkable weight of a shade under 2000 pounds, nearly 900 pounds less than the 328 GTS on which it is based. Weighing about the same as a Lotus Elise but with 270hp, the car has a sensational power to weight ratio with performance to match.

The Conciso design has short overhangs but retains the original wheelbase, chassis, suspension, brakes, and running gear of the 328 GTS which served as the donor for this unique car. This makes service and ownership straightforward.

The Conciso debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1993, and then went on to be displayed 6 months later at the Geneva Motor Show in 1994. In 1994, the car also won second prize at the Eurosign Design Awards. After its show career, the car passed into the hands of two long-term collector owners, one of whom displayed the car in his living room. Both owners drove the car sparingly, accumulating fewer than 10,000 kilometers by the time the car was sold to the current owner in 2018.

They returned the car to its original constructor, Bacchelli and Villa, who undertook a complete nut and bolt restoration, returning the car to as-new condition.
