The Lola T70 Mk3B is the ultimate and most successful closed-cockpit version of Lola's iconic T70 sports racer, introduced in 1969. Designed by Eric Broadley, the car featured a completely new, lightweight all-aluminum monocoque chassis and a sleek fiberglass body for superior aerodynamics. Power came from a reliable and potent American V8 engine, typically a 5.0-litre Chevrolet small-block, mated to a revised Hewland LG600 five-speed gearbox. These cars typically produced over 450 bhp, resulting in a serious contender for endurance racing.

The Mk3B's competitive peak was realized with the Penske Racing Sunoco entry, which achieved a historic overall victory at the 1969 24 Hours of Daytona driven by Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons. Although its factory competition, particularly the Porsche 917, ultimately surpassed it, the Lola T70 Mk3B cemented its legendary status through its performance, beautiful design, and enduring popularity among privateer teams. Today, it is a highly sought-after and successful car in contemporary historic racing events.

This particular Lola T70 Mk3B recreation was constructed in 2006 by McClendon International, a company founded by one of the most respected Lola T70 experts. This is not just a historic racer—it is a championship-winning machine that delivers the iconic style of Eric Broadley's original design with modern performance, safety, and reliability enhancements. This particular example has proven its ability to compete and win at the highest level of U.S. historic motorsports.

Racing History
This Mk3B has amassed a remarkable track record since its conversion to a dedicated road racer in 2014, when it was purchased by the current owner. The car has achieved the incredible feat of winning the Classic 24 Hours of Daytona overall twice (in 2018 and 2020), cementing its status as a top-tier competitor. Averaging approximately five races per season, the Lola has captured many other podium finishes, all documented in the accompanying SVRA and HSR log books. Across its impressive run of over 50 races, the car has maintained an outstanding finishing record, suffering only two DNFs—one due to a fuel line problem at Indianapolis and the other a wheel bearing failure while leading the Classic 12 Hours of Sebring. It is clear this machine has been built and meticulously maintained "to a standard, not a budget."
Race-Ready
This Lola is engineered for both speed and endurance. It's powered by a 354 cubic inch Chevy featuring a DART aluminum block, MBE billet heads, a Crower forged steel crank, Crower titanium rods, and Diamond pistons with Total Seal rings. The engine was refreshed in 2020 and produces a formidable 788 h.p. at 7800 RPM and 610 ft.lbs. of torque at 5800 RPM, all fed through a BRE road race 870 CFM carburetor. Power is reliably driven through a Hewland LG600 gearbox via a Tilton triple disc clutch, and the car comes fully equipped with gear ratios selected for a wide range of tracks, from Barber to Daytona. Additionally, a spare rebuilt 305 cubic inch Chevy engine with Lucas mechanical injection will also come with the car.

The Lola's chassis was comprehensively rebuilt in 2019 by RM Motorsports with new rivets and bonding. For stopping power, new Alcon TA2 spec calipers were fitted in 2020, paired with full floating rotors, new top hats, and PMU brake pads. Damping is handled by JRZ double adjustable shocks with H&R springs, supported by new 2020 magnesium uprights and stock Lola Mk3B sway bars.

Body, Safety & Spares Package
The car's current body, fitted in 2019, is built for maximum performance, featuring carbon fiber components for the nose, roof, cockpit, engine bulkhead, and two side sills. A full set of painted fiberglass bodywork is also included with the car. The Lola is equipped with an ATL Fuel cell (new foam installed in 2020) and a Schroth 6-point harness valid through 2025. The Safecraft fire system requires servicing, as it expired in March 2024. For modern convenience and data, the car includes a cool suit system, a Motorola Radio, a Gentech rear view mirror with a built-in camera, and an AIM Digital dash with data logger and camera.

The extensive spares package ensures you are race-ready from day one. It includes an additional full set of Magnesium wheels, two new brake rotors, miscellaneous Hewland gears and dog rings, original Girling brake calipers and top hats, and MBE Drag Cylinder Heads. The rebuilt 305 Chevy engine comes complete with a four barrel intake manifold, aluminum heads, a Lucas fuel injection manifold with pump, and a Kinsler Fuel injection manifold with all parts.
